The Story
Red Lake Red Currant is a compact deciduous shrub that produces edible and attractive bright red fruits in mid summer. Its medium green foliage turns orange and red in fall. The insignificant greenish-yellow spring bloom gives way to the abundant tangy red fruits that can be eaten fresh or used in jellies. Best fruiting with full sun and consistently moist well-drained soils. Drought tolerant once established. Red Lake is self fertile, and not a host for white pine blister rust.
